Show Racism the Red Card – 19th of October Wear Red Day

Wear Red Day is our annual day of action to raise awareness of the work that we do and to raise funds to allow us to continue.

This year, Wear Red Day (WRD) takes place on the 19th of October. It will be our fourth to date and gauging by the support that we’ve already garnered, it’s going to be our biggest so far. Our fundraising team and our wonderful volunteers have spend the last few weeks frantically building and dispatching fundraising packs to over 1,300 schools, universities and businesses the length and breadth of the UK.

We are encouraging everybody to wear an item of red and to donate £1 to Show Racism the Red Card. These funds will directly allow us to continue with our essential work.

The Liver Building, The Millennium Bridge Newcastle, Alnwick Castle Gardens, St Mary’s Lighthouse, The Foundation of Light and all of Sunderland City Council’s assets  will be glowing red in solidarity on October 19th.

It’s going to be big, it’s going to be brilliant.

Show Racism the Red Card Chief Executive, Ged Grebby, said;

Wear Red Day is a chance for people across the country to help raise much needed funds for anti-racism education work. Friday 19th October 2018 is all about uniting against racism for one day by wearing something Red and donating £1.”

“Racism affects everyone and each penny we receive from Wear Red Day will make a real difference to a young person’s life. The funds raised during Wear Red Day will help us continue to support and educate young people and teachers throughout England.”

 “Racism continues to be an issue in our society with many people suffering abuse each day. We believe that education is key in challenging racism in society. By working with the next generation in schools we can have a big impact towards eradicating racism and creating a better world in the future.”
