We are from a lower down team. The issues we have seen have been from management. We have just been promoted. The dad who took over as manager a year ago kicked out the five players who were not as strong (despite being with the clubs for years and working their socks off). This manager then recruited so many we now have a team of 19 and we are told that only the top players will play the whole match, some will not get on the pitch, others less than half. This is a parent running the show. He has also made himself the coach. This is the third club we have been at. They last two were equally shocking. We are lower div, yet we can treat children in a way that I can only describe as disgusting. If my son didn't love football so much and he didn't have lots of friends in the team, I would not want anything to do with the mess we call grass roots football. A change of rules of how clubs have run is so over due. The problem for me is the parent managers and the lack of grass roots rules. Maybe start with the fact that every child must play 50 percent of a game at least (how else can they progress) and go from there. Another issue is poor coaching (I am a teacher and I am shocked at how poor it is). Sometimes the coach is good, but the manager takes over and the coach is undermined. So maybe there should be a guide book on expected drills and how the children are taught a pattern of play. We need rules, firm rules and big changes are long overdue.

I am a mum of a son who plays at a football team, he loves it.. but the parents I have heard say if you score you can play on the Xbox for hours or get money, and then if you don't they will be mad at them.. where is this craziness coming from?

I thought it was first and foremost something they loved to play, adored and just felt so happy being part of a team and yes training to get better and better and ofcourse having dreams of playing one day but what is the craziness about..
