The Grassroots world has been shocked by the untimely death of nine-year-old Tommaso Cerase in a freak accident.
According to reports, authorities are investigating the incident after it is claimed a goal fell onto the youngster to cause the heartbreaking loss. Police say Cerase was hanging onto the goalpost when it collapsed, striking him in the head.
Nine year old Tomasso Cerase, who lives in New York, was participating in a training camp day for the Serie A giants Juventus.
It is also claimed that his mother, Barbara Riccardi, was present for the horrific accident.
The youngster was rushed to the Roosevelt Hospital as medics battled to save his life. However, despite their best efforts, they were ultimately in vain.
It was a tragedy that strikes at the heart of every parent – how one freak accident can turn a beautiful day into a crushing nightmare.
