Creating healthier football environments
Smokefree Sidelines is an initiative delivered through the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Smoking and Tobacco Alliance.
Clubs signing up to Smokefree Sidelines are asked to promote smokefree and vape-free environments. By signing up, clubs are helping to create positive, family-friendly spaces where children and young people can enjoy football free from exposure to smoking and vaping. The initiative supports healthier lifestyles, encourages positive role modelling and demonstrates a commitment to the wellbeing of players, volunteers and supporters.
The Nottingham City Council project is endorsed by Nottingham Forest Foundation, Notts County Foundation and Nottinghamshire FA, working together to support healthier grassroots football environments and promote positive role modelling for children and young people.
Eligible clubs and teams from Nottingham City can apply for free Smokefree Sidelines resource packs to help raise awareness and promote the campaign within their football community.
Before you apply
Applications can be made by FA affiliated football clubs.
- Each club can apply for one Club Pack which includes free equipment including footballs, bibs and signage.
- In addition, clubs can apply for up to 10 Team Packs for affiliated teams within the club, which includes additional equipment.
- Team Pack applications must be linked to an FA affiliated football club to ensure resources are distributed fairly across Nottingham City football clubs.

Help us celebrate your club
We are keen to showcase the fantastic work taking place across grassroots football. If your club or team receives a Smokefree Sidelines resource pack, we would love to see how you are using it.
By sharing photos, social media posts and success stories, you can help us celebrate the positive impact your club is making, inspire other clubs to get involved and demonstrate how grassroots football is supporting healthier communities. We may also use examples of good practice in future campaign communications and promotional activity.
By sharing photos with us, you confirm that appropriate permissions have been obtained from those featured and that the images may be used by Nottingham City Council and campaign partners for Smokefree Sidelines communications and promotional activities.
