LONDON FA AND GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL ARE HELPING THE CITY’S LEAGUES GEAR UP FOR THE RETURN OF FOOTBALL, ONCE LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED.

With support from the Grassroots Fund – powered by Utilita Energy and its High 5 campaign – we have been able to provide a free COVID support pack for all our leagues, to identify club(s) or a central venue who need this support.

The pack includes:

• 50 disposable face masks
• 100 disposable gloves
• Thermometer Gun
• Hand gels
• Wipes
• Visors

Grassroots Football represent the grassroots community and offers support, resources and advocacy on behalf the millions of people who play the game or support the game. They offer a comprehensive knowledge base to assist anyone who has a part to play in making grassroots football the wonderful institution that it is.

Paul Kirton, Spokesperson for Grassroots Football, said: “We are thrilled to support the Leagues at this uncertain time, leagues play such a vital role in keeping football going and underpin the values of grassroots football in local communities. We want to be able to help give them the confidence to proceed in a Covid secure manner once football resumes without the added burden of the costs associated by providing each league with a Covid support pack.”

Aquila Burgess, London FA’s Football Development Manager, added: “We are delighted to support our leagues through this difficult time, with the offering thanks to Grassroots Football and Utilita Energy High 5. As an organisation, we continually look to work with organisations who can offer our members valuable, insightful and essential services. We hope the packs provided will help leagues to resume their seasons when the lockdown restrictions are lifted.”

Jem Maidment, Chief Marketing Officer at Utilita Energy, said: “It’s never been more important to support grassroots football: our own research shows one in 10 clubs expect to close because of the pandemic. That’s why we’ve set up the Grassroots Fund – powered by our Energy High 5 campaign – to help the best we can, including providing essential Covid packs to clubs across all London FA leagues, so thousands of players can enjoy the game they love safely.”
